Robert Jenkins

Robert has had extensive experience in a management, risk and metallurgical consulting role, in a managerial role and in mining operations. He worked in various places such as England part taking in operations management in the ceramics industry and in South Africa conducting research and development.
Robert is proficient in the supervision and motivation his employees, departmental budgeting, project management and risk analysis and management.
He also has skills in due diligence studies, decision making, training and financial analysis, job hazard and safety analysis and supervision of construction projects.
Arthur Ottery
BEng (Chemical), DipAppChem
Arthur is one of RMDSTEM’s Process Engineering Consultants.
He has 45 years of invaluable experience and specialisation in Process Engineering and Technical Management in heavy industry, as well as 30 years experience in hydro-metallurgy in the mining industry.

Damien Harding

Damien has over six years experience in consulting with RMDSTEM. He has coordinated and led a number of assignments including the:
Valuation of technology and capital portfolios for mining operations, corporate resource organisations and research organisations. The work with resource organisations has led to a significant improvement in the strategic direction and investment efficiency of portfolios, and for research organisations had led to the successful re-bid of a number Co-operative Research Centres.
Assessment of capacity at mining operations, and identification and assessment of projects to meet increased future production targets. These assignments have led to the increase in capacity of mining, processing and smelting operations.
Development of technology roadmaps for industry and government. This includes the development of a Technology Roadmap for the Victorian Earth Resources sector that involved managing the engagement process with over 120 stakeholders from government, industry and research organisations, through interviews, running workshops and feedback sessions.
Development of greenhouse gas trajectory targets for a major resource company, by identifying and assessing initiatives and modelling the impact on future production targets.
Damien has previously established a well-respected reputation as a research scientist / engineer with CSIRO Minerals in researching and developing new processing technologies for the resource sector, including Titanium and Magnesium. Manager - Recovery was the most recent role Damien has led for Rio Tinto.
Robert Taylor

Robert has had extensive experience in working with various smelters and furnaces, particularly for companies such as CSIRO and BHP Billiton. He is proficient in Plant Surveys, and conducting measurements for furnaces and plants such as the Copper flash furnace for BHP and the Ausmelt Plant in Olympic Dam.
He has skills in developing membranes for reverse osmosis, sugar crystallisation and development of polymers for the prevention of boiler scale in the evaporators in the desalination plant at CSIRO.
John Thomson, Senior Associate
MBA, BEng, M Appl Social Research
John is a Senior Associate with RMDSTEM and has a strong background in providing strategic advice to senior management. John has undertaken numerous consulting projects involving valuation and commercialisation of R&D, covering a wide range of technologies and products.
He has undertaken numerous consultancies for CRCs and has undertaken evaluations of research and development and commercialisation for Orica Consumer Products, BHP Billiton, WMC and CSIRO Division of Health Sciences and Nutrition.
During his consulting career has investigated the prospects for commercialisation a range of technologies and has undertaken several industry reviews.
John has also investigated opportunities for value-added recycling and has additional expertise in applied social research, which he uses to conduct market and industry surveys, as well as organisational surveys within research and development organisations.
Frank Trask
BSc. (Geological Engineering), MSc. (Mining Engineering)
Frank has more than 50 years experience in the mining sector in a vast range of roles such as Director, Managing Director, Senior Exploration Geologist, Pit Geologist, Mine Geologist and Lecturer / Teacher at the Western Australian School of Mines.
He has expertise in the areas of operating pilot plants, heap leaching of copper, mine operation and the manufacturing and supply of mill reagents in the Kalgoorlie area.
Frank commenced his mining career at the El Salvador operations of The Andes Copper Mining Company located in Potrerillos, Chile where he completed a summer job work as assayer, sampler, surveyor, and junior capitaz (mine boss).
After moving to Western Australia Frank was based in Kalgoorlie and started working for Anaconda Inc. completing jobs at Yilgarn Craton and was credited with the discovery of the Yakabindie Nickel deposits. He then went on to operating for 10 years as an independent prospector and mine operator with various Joint Ventures. In that time he became a specialist in non-metallic minerals, and worked on such diverse commodities as talc, vermiculite, aggregates, limestone, soda ash, saline minerals, gypsum, lithium, coal and lignite, pegmatite minerals, emeralds, diamonds, and uranium.
Marcello Tonelli
BSc (Intl. Mgmt.), MInfmTech, GradCert (Research Commercialisation)
Marcello has 15 years of experience in strategic consulting across a number of industry sectors including public administration, services, online retailing, ICT, start-ups, and universities. His areas of specialisation include:Business Management, Corporate Governance, Information Technology, International Marketing and Scientific Research.
He has undertaken numerous consultancies for CRCs and CSIRO in relation to international business development and commercialisation of R&D.
Marcello has recently completed a PhD in strategic decision-making that is currently under examination. He is also the founder and Managing Director of WorlDynamics Pty Ltd. He is an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management (AIMM), and a Member of the Institute of Management Consultants (MIMC) and the Australian Computer Society (MACS).
With a wide variety of experiences in different organizational contexts and a consolidated network of business contacts around the world, Marcello makes use of a flexible and customised approach to provide companies with strategies to improve their business in an effective and sustainable way.
Ba Tran

Ba has over 20 years experience in developing process flow sheets, process costing, process optimisation and computational process simulations and control models (Kalgoorlie Nickel Smelter Flash Furnace control model and laboratory database). Ba has outstanding skills in modelling using Excel, Crystalball, VBA, SQL, Visual Basic, Fortran, APL, Mining (Vulcan) and metallurgical software utilisation (Metsim, FACTSage), databases, computer hardware requirements and providning expert support for computational systems.
